X community adds a context note to Rep. Greg Steube's post: Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) posted "Last night a Presidential candidate’s spouse encouraged out of state residents to participate in the Iowa caucus. The Iowa GOP responded making it very clear that the Iowa caucus is ONLY for Iowans. Posting this so residents of #FL17 and Florida aren’t confused by her comments!" The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Casey DeSantis clarified in a statement yesterday (12/8/23) that voting in the Iowa caucus is limited to registered voters in Iowa; however, a non-resident can participate by volunteering for the caucus. usa.gov/primaries-cauc… Statement can be seen here: twitter.com/CaseyDeSantis/… Archived: archive.is/dtmZ8." The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk recently shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will now be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
