X community adds a context note to Adam Schiff post: Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) posted "President Biden just pardoned every American who has used marijuana. This will help reduce barriers to employment, housing and education. This is an important step towards decriminalizing marijuana nationwide." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. It is correct that President Biden issued pardons, but only for convictions of POSSESSION of marijuana, (not of "intent to deliver") and only if that possession was in D.C or on Federal Land (i.e. Nat'l Park or Native Reservation). X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
