X community adds a context note to post about death of Iranian president: The X account for Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), posted "I extend my condolences on the tragic passing of President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other delegation members. Our thoughts are with their families and the people of Iran during this difficult time." The post included a short video of Grossi making remarks before the IAEA about Raisi's death. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi killed thousands of innocent people for no reason, earning himself the nickname “The Butcher of Tehran” amnesty.org/en/latest/pres… forbes.com/sites/maryroel…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
