Facebook blocks user from sharing fundraiser for wheelchair van meant to help two little girls get to their far away medical appointments: Rachel Enns is a family friend of Cathy Chirkoff, who has two little girls with a rare life threatening condition. With the help of Enns, the Chirkoff family set up a GoFundMe to raise money for a wheelchair accessible van that would make it easier for the two little girls to get to their far away medical appointments. After creating the fundraiser, Enns attempted to share it on her Facebook page, but the platform would not allow her to. Enns appealed Facebook's decision but the only response she ever got told her that because of COVID the platform would not be able to respond to the vast quantity of appeals. However, in response to questions from the Toronto Star, Facebook admitted it was a mistake and said that Enns' posts had been restored. "It makes me wonder about the quality of their algorithms if Facebook can’t distinguish between racist, misogynistic and discriminatory content and quality content from humans who are working to support other humans,” Chirkoff remarked.
