X community adds a context note to user's post: An X (formerly Twitter) user posted a response to another user who posted "Where did the English come from, if not from England? Is every other ethnicity indigenous to their country except the English, Peter? Have you thought this through properly?" The user's response read "Read some history Connor. The English came from Germany. There are very very few indigenous people in Europe. Nearly all but the Sami of Finland are the result of migration within the last 2000 years." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. White Britons largely of Celtic, Anglo-Saxon and some Norman extraction clearly meet the definition of being indigenous. For example Māoris, who arrived in what is now New Zealand in the 1300s, are cited as being indigenous." The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
