Twitter community adds a context note to Paul Thacker tweet: The official Twitter account for journalist Paul D. Thacker tweeted, "3. The month prior, Taylor Lorenz got this tiny account banned. Surprise! The account detailed Lorenz as a Manhattan rich girl, who attended Swiss boarding school, and whose uncle owns Internet Archive, thus erasing her past." The tweet included a screenshot of a tweet from NevilleTheCat that read: “For the record this all [sic] publicly available information, it’s just hard to find without looking. Taylor Lorenz was born to mega right developer Walter R. Lorenz (65) and Anne Lorenz (67) & raised in a $5.7 million dollar mansion. Her sister is Brook Lorenz of CNN.” Twitter added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read "The Internet Archive is a nonprofit organisation chaired by Brewster Kahle thus no single individual owns The Internet Archive. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_… middlebury.libguides.com/internetarchive Moreover, one can request their own site to be excluded from the Way back Machine via this link: help.archive.org/help/how-do-i-…" The label is part of Twitter’s Community Notes system. Twitter users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to tweets. Twitter removed the community note at some point after it was widely reported on.
