Pat Cross
Case #
1867

Cartoon is one of many flagged by Facebook's fact-checkers for the most arbitrary reason: Several memes, including a cartoon by Pat Cross of The College Fix, highlighting the ridiculousness of Dr. Seuss being "canceled" were said to be "missing context" by Facebook's fact-checkers because they used Seuss's story "The Cat in the Hat" to generalize their point. "The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play. So we sat at the grave. All that cold, cold, woke day," read Cross's cartoon above a tombstone that said, "The Cat in the Hat Canceled 2021." Facebook fact-checkers said the cartoon and other similar memes were misleading because "Cat in the Hat" was not one of the six Dr. Seuss titles that were canceled.
