X community adds a context note to New York Post post: The New York Post posted "Shocked airplane passenger spots electrical tape all over Boeing 787 wing during long flight." The post included a link to a video about the incident on the Post's web site. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. The tape on the wing is “Speed Tape”, not electrical tape. In this instance, it’s used on a 787 to prevent a known issue with paint peeling, but presents no structural or safety issue: reuters.com/business/aeros… The NY Post itself previously reported on the issue in Oct, 2022: news.com.au/travel/travel-…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
