X community adds a context note to Nature is Amazing post: The Nature is Amazing X account posted a photo of a shark with the caption, "A 392 year old Greenland Shark in the Arctic Ocean, wandering the ocean since 1627." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. The age is derived by researchers who analyzed 28 female sharks, most of which had died after being caught in fishing nets. They estimated the oldest of the animals tested had lived between 272 and 512 years. The midpoint of that range was 392 years. usatoday.com/story/news/fac…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later. This note does not seem to contradict what was in the post, but rather supports it. Yet, the post is now demonetized because a note was added.
