Miami Beach Police

X community adds a context note to Miami Beach Police post: The Miami Beach Police X account posted "The Miami Beach Police Department has been made aware of a “Senior Skip Day” across Miami-Dade County Schools. Students are to be reminded that skipping school, whether given permission by your parents or not, is considered truancy and you will be taken back to school if caught." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Skipping a single day of school is not considered truancy in Florida. A truant in Florida is defined as a child who has unexcused absences of at least 5 in a week, 10 in a month, or 15 in a ninety day period. Skipping a single day would not violate any of these. leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system.
