X community adds a context note to post about puberty blockers: An X (formerly Twitter) account for Metro UK posted, "'People need to stop seeing gender affirming treatment for trans people as something scary.' 'Puberty blockers are in the same bracket as the contraceptive pill, entirely suitable for young people with proper medical supervision.' - @UglaStefania." The post also included a link to a Metro op-ed by "Author, feminist and trans advocate" Ugla Stefanía Kristjönudóttir Jónsdóttir headlined "We accept teenagers taking the pill - why don't we feel the same about puberty blockers?" X added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know." The added context read "cass.independent-review.uk/wp-content/upl… On pages 37/38 of the Cass report Dr H Cass sets out the concerns about puberty blockers, the lack of data and the potential long term side effects. They are clearly not the same as birth control as PBs are often given to children before they develop fertility." The label is part of X’s Community Notes system.
