Marianne Williamson

X community adds a context note to Democratic presidential candidate's post: Marianne Williamson, a Democratic candidate for president, posted "The U.S. attacks in Iraq and Syria today were outrageous. If Trump had done this, every Democrat would have been up in arms. We've got to end our codependent relationship with Democratic Presidents and tell Joe Biden that we will NOT support this, we will NOT present his militaristic agenda to the American people as our platform in 2024. This cannot continue. It cannot. If war is the only arrow in our quiver then we are doomed. https://apnews.com/article/attack-military-iran-iraq-houthis-229a735edbb7759ba9ade543013917df." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. 'If Trump had done this' misleadingly implies that the U.S. never bombed Iraq or Syria during the Trump presidency. The U.S. conducted multiple airstrikes against Iran-linked targets in Iraq and Syria from 2017 to 2020. theguardian.com/world/2017/may… reuters.com/article/us-ira… cnn.com/2020/01/02/mid… Democratic leaders mostly supported the strikes. theguardian.com/us-news/2018/a…."
