X community adds a context note to MAGA War Room post: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's War Room X account posted the following: "President Trump in Iowa: I wouldn’t support a Covid shutdown. 'I’m a federalist.'" The post included a short video of Trump expressing these words at a televised townhall. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Trump took credit for lockdowns twitter.com/DarylRobinson2… April 15th 2020 'there are some [states] that want to open up almost now. If we disagree with it, we're not gonna let them open. We're not going to let them open.' twitter.com/snorman1776/st… Locking down nursing homes: twitter.com/snorman1776/st… Trump fought GA's opening twitter.com/BrianKempGA/st…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk recently shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will now be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
