Instagram censors British political commentator Maajid Nawaz: British anti-radical political commentator Maajid Nawaz noted that his Instagram account has been experiencing some censorship. He is experiencing a search suggestion ban that requires a user to type in his exact Instagram handle, not his actual name, in order to find his account. There have also been some reports of users receiving a warning when they attempt to follow his account which asks the user if they are sure that they want to follow his account, because it has "repeatedly posted false information that was reviewed by independent fact-checkers or went against [Instagram's] Community Guidelines." Though several different purported screenshots are available showing this, it was unable to be independently confirmed by CensorTrack, so it is possible that this restriction has since been lifted.
