X community adds a context note to user's post: An X (formerly Twitter) user posted "All in vain: Bill Gates' frank confession about vaccinations 'We made a terrible mistake. We wanted to protect people from a dangerous virus. But it turns out the virus is much less dangerous than we thought. And the vaccine is far more dangerous than anyone could have imagined." The post included a video of Gates discussing the vaccine and COVID, but not saying exactly what was posted. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. The quote in this tweet is made up. Bill Gates did not state this or anything like this. The video shows Bill Gates making entirely different statements. x.com/rugmeister78/s…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
