Julie Kelly

X community adds a context note to Julie Kelly post: Political commentator Julie Kelly posted, "Blames Trump for J6, makes absurd claim he could’ve granted clemency for people who we not arrested or charged after Jan 20, 2021. DeSantis again refuses to denounce DOJ’s abusive and ongoing prosecution of J6ers to instead indulge Joe and Mika. What a fraud…" The post was in response to a post by Aaron Rupar that included a video clip from Gov. Ron DeSantis's appearance on Morning Joe in which he criticized Trump for failing to preemptively pardon the January 6 rioters. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. It is well documented that Trump had the authority as then president to issue a blanket pardon for the J6 defendants and chose not to before leaving office. Other presidents have issued pardons without charges filed example: Carter's pardon of Vietnam draft dodgers justice.gov/pardon/frequen… wusa9.com/amp/article/ne… azcentral.com/story/opinion/…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk recently shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will now be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
