X community adds a context note to Josh Hall post: Joshua Hall, an apparent candidate for Senate in Pennsylvania who served time over threatening Rep. Eric Swalwell and for wire fraud, posted: "BREAKING: DOMINION VOTING MACHINES ARE BEING USED TO TALLY A LARGE PORTION OF THE VOTES BEING CAST IN THE #IowaCaucuses TONIGHT, ACCORDING TO SOURCES ON THE GROUND. RIGGED ELECTION!" The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Caucus ballots are handed out to the caucusgoers, who vote by secret ballot. The ballots are then collected and counted in open view of the caucus. A campaign representative is allowed to view the counting, but members of the press are not. msn.com/en-us/news/pol…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
