X community adds a context note to Jon Cooper post: Liberal activist Jon Cooper posted "BREAKING: President Biden announced today that he's issuing a federal pardon to every American who has used marijuana in the past, including those who were never arrested or prosecuted. The sweeping pardon applies to all U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents in possession of marijuana for their personal use and those convicted of similar federal crimes." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. President Biden's pardon applies only to individuals "convicted of use and simple possession of marijuana on federal lands and in the District of Columbia", not every American who has used marijuana in the past. apnews.com/article/biden-…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
