X community adds a context note to Joe Biden post:  The official campaign X account for Joe Biden posted, “We’ve created close to 800,000 manufacturing jobs since I’ve taken office." X added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read "The close to 800k (764k) manufacturing jobs total is factually correct but missing context. The Oct. 2023 figure is 175k higher than the Feb. 2020 peak from before COVID-19 forced layoffs. It’s more accurate to say 589k manufacturing jobs were recovered and 175k created. data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk recently shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted to explain that notices will now be pushed to users that previously engaged with a post about any Community Notes added to it after the engagement.
