An Instagram meme containing an image of Donald Trump, Muhammad Ali and Rosa Parks after they were awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 1986, and says,  "Have you ever been so racist that you won an Ellis Island Award for 'patriotism, tolerance, brotherhood and diversity' alongside Muhammad Ali & Rosa Parks?" was fact checked by PolitiFact. Instagram labeled the post "False" and noted that independent fact-checkers say the information has no basis in fact. The fact check says while all three individuals indeed won the award in the same year, Trump won for different reasons than Ali and Parks. Trump won for his "professional contributions that benefited New York City as a real estate developer" and for his German heritage, according to PolitiFact, while Parks won for standing up to adversity. It did not indicate Ali's reason for winning the award. Fact checks on Instagram limit a posts exposure by removing it from the platform's explore and hashtag pages, according to WIRED.
