JAMA Network

Twitter censors links to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Network: Several screenshots shared to Twitter showed that the platform inexplicably censored links to the JAMA Network, claiming that the links may be unsafe. Any link clicked from Twitter to go to the site or one of its stories directly presented users instead with a message that said "Warning: this link may be unsafe." The message continued, "The link you are trying to access has been identified by Twitter or our partners as being potentially spammy or unsafe." The message provided several reasons for this determination, among them that the site being linked to could be stealing user's information, could be "spammy links that mislead people or disrupt their experience," or that the landing site could contain "violent or misleading content that could lead to real-world harm." It is unclear how long this lasted.
