X community adds a context note to Jake Shields post: Former UFC/MMA fighter Jake Shields posted "You can’t become a German citizen with out pledging allegiance to Israel You don’t need to pledge allegiance to any other country including Germany." The post included a screenshot of a headline from The Jerusalem Post that read "Germany will include questions on the Holocaust, Judaism, and Israel in amended citizenship test." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Only the German state of Saxony-Anhalt requires a commitment in writing for the 'right of the State of Israel to exist' for citizenship applications. Elsewhere applicants must state that they accept the existence of all foreign states recognised by the federal republic. washingtonpost.com/world/2023/12/… iamexpat.de/expat-info/ger…."
