Jackson Hinkle

X’s Community Notes claims missing context: Jackson Hinkle posted, "Are genes real, and if so can you show me a picture of one?" The post included a poll that ended with 61% saying No and 39% saying No. X’s Community Notes added a context graph to the post that currently reads, “The post implies genes are not real and suggests that no photo of a gene exists. Photomicrographs of chromosomes (each containing a few hundred genes) exist. Electron microscope photos of DNA also exist, albeit with the DNA spread out instead of curled up forbes.com/sites/evaamsen…” Hinkle responded to this in another post, saying "I marked the community note unhelpful because it proves that chromosomes can be photographed, but not genes. Reply to this comment with a photo of a single hereditary unit of a gene if you can." X's Community Notes added a context graph to this post that currently reads: "DNA has been directly imaged over a decade ago: nbcnews.com/id/wbna50029929 Also, since chromosomes consist of DNA, a photograph of a chromosome is a photograph of DNA: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromosome." The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts.
