Twitter censors user for common phrase "knock yourself out," upholds decision on appeal: A Twitter user shared screenshots of their censorship notice. In response to another user saying that they would continue to wear a mask even after officials have removed all mandates to do so, the user responded, saying "If want to do this, knock yourself out. It's your right. But nobody gives damn about your virtue signaling for online affirmation." Twitter's notoriously bad AI algorithm, according to the alleged screenshot, claimed this was a violation of its "rules against promoting or encouraging suicide or self-harm." The user appealed and Twitter declared that a violation did in fact occur, and the user had to delete the tweet in order to unlock their account. The user reported that they searched for liberal accounts that used the common phrase, widely understood to mean "go ahead and do it," and reported eight of them for violating the same rules, but the user stated that Twitter claimed none of those accounts were found in violation.
