Ibram X. Kendi

X community adds a context note to Ibram X. Kendi's post: Author and activist Ibram X. Kendi posted in response to a post announcing that Harvard President Claudine Gay had resigned amidst allegations of plagiarism, saying "Racist mobs won’t stop until they topple all Black people from positions of power and influence who are not reinforcing the structure of racism. What these racist mobs are doing should be obvious to any reporter who cares about truth or justice as opposed to conflicts and clicks." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Claudine Gay was accused among other things of lifting nearly half a page of material verbatim from David Cannon’s 1999 book “Race Redistricting and Representation: The Unintended Consequences of Black Majority Districts” nytimes.com/2024/01/02/us/…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
