X community adds a context note to Ian Miles Cheong post:  Journalist Ian Miles Cheong posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Does anyone believe this?” The post included a screenshot of a New York Post social media post that read "F-35 pilot ejected from $100 million jet over South Carolina due to 'bad weather'" and linked to the newspaper's story about the incident. X added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read "The headline of the article is misleading and contradicts the rest of the story. Per the article, military officials referred to the incident as stemming from a malfunction. The pilot referred to the weather as the reason why he was unable to track the plane after ejecting. nypost.com/2023/09/20/f-3…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to tweets.
