X community adds a context note to Ian Miles Cheong post: The X account for Ian Miles Cheong posted "I am one million percent behind Trump now. We are at war. This was the first shot." This post was in reaction to the assassination attempt on former president and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Ian Miles Cheong is a Malaysian who doesn't have a US citizenship, doesn't live in the USA and can't vote in the US presidential elections." The irrelevant note was later removed from the post after being labeled "Not Helpful" by enough users. The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
