X community adds a context note to Ian Miles Cheong's post: Political commentator Ian Miles Cheong posted "The farmers in Belgium should keep the EU parliament blockaded forever. Those unelected bureaucrats only waste the public’s money whenever they decide to go to 'work.'" The post included a couple of short video clips showing farm equipment blocking streets. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. The European Parliament is directly elected by the citizens of the member states and is not 'unelected bureaucrats'. The next election is in June 2024. elections.europa.eu." The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
