Facebook fact checks a meme posted by Freedom In America that implicitly criticizes Biden's immigration policy:  A conservative Facebook page posted a meme that read: "LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT... A GUY BUILDS A WALL TO KEEP EVERYONE OUT... THEN ANOTHER GUY COMES ALONG AND TAKES IT DOWN, THEN, BLAMES THE FIRST GUY BECAUSE EVERYONE IS COMING IN..." Facebook fact-checker Lead Stories marked the post false because Biden never took down parts of the physical southern border wall. Although Lead Stories admits the meme does not reference Trump or Biden directly, the Facebook fact-checker justifies its correction based on how commenters interpreted the meme. But Lead Stories completely ignores the fact that the meme is also easily interpreted as a criticism of Biden's entire approach to immigration and not necessarily one specific action he's taken. This is the third time Facebook fact-checked one of Freedom in America's posts in the last month. Posts that have been fact-checked lose exposure on Facebook feeds and ads as they are negatively affected by the platform's algorithm. According to Facebook, users fail to click through a fact-check interstitial to see the post 95% of the time.
