Instagram fact-checkers flagged a post by The Federalist reporting on insane proposed climate measures: The Federalist and one of its staff writers Evita Duffy-Alfonso released a video reporting on the C40 Climate Leadership Group's "ambitious targets" that have caused quite the stir. "14 major American cities are part of a globalist climate group known as the C40 climate leadership group which has an 'ambitious target' by the year 2030 of zero kilograms of meat consumption, zero kilograms of dairy consumption, three new clothing items per year per person and zero private vehicles," said Duffy-Alfonso. The information she cited was sourced from a C40 Cities Headline Report titled "The Future of Urban Consumption in a 1.5°C World" which includes charts (pgs 78 & 80) showing the organization's "progressive targets" and its and "ambitious targets" or climate goals by 2030. Instagram flagged the post and PolitiFact and AFP fact-checked the video even though everything she said was verifiably true. The fact-checks responded to a conglomerate of posts and articles and AFP cited a C40 spokesperson who said: "No C40 city mayor has agreed to force people to eliminate meat and dairy consumption, or otherwise severely restrict consumption." PolitiFact even ignored the meaning of the word "target" in this context and claimed that "The report highlighted progressive and ambitious targets to reduce emissions, but said it was not advocating that cities meet the ambitious targets."
