X community adds a context note to FBI post: The official account for the FBI posted "#ICYMI, #FBI Director Wray highlighted the Bureau's compliance with Section 702 during the hearing at the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Learn more https://fbi.gov/investigate/how-we-investigate/intelligence/foreign-intelligence-surveillance-act-fisa-and-section-702." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. The FBI violated American citizens' 4A rights 278,000 times with illegal, unauthorized FISA 702 searches." The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later. The note was later removed.
