Video Game roleplayers continue to be kicked off Facebook: Players of the video game Fallout 76 who are organizing on Facebook continue to be mistakenly banned by the platform. A Facebook group titled "Free States Militia," which is named after a militia movement within the game, was kicked off Facebook in Oct. 2020. The group's removal came shortly after Facebook updated its policies against violence and misinformation, which included purging the platform of violent organizations. A theory among members of the group about what caused it to be removed from Facebook, was that the word "militia" in its title triggered either Facebook's algorithm or content moderators, which have been unable to tell the difference between fantasy and reality. "Over the past week Fallout 76 roleplayers have had their accounts restricted on Facebook, and none of them knows why," reported PC GamesN. "The players we spoke to say the restrictions came without warning or any clear instructions on appealing them."
