Facebook suspends Elaine Lancaster for quoting a New York Times headline: Elaine Lancaster, one member of the Real Housewives of Miami cast, was suspended from Facebook for 30 days for quoting a New York Times headline. The New York Times headline read: "F.D.A. Approves Remdesivir as First Drug to Treat Covid-19." Lancaster posted the following to her personal Facebook account: "Remdesivir approved by FDA to treat COVID*19 #WarpSpeed." The only substantive difference in these is the addition of the Trump-connected hashtag #WarpSpeed. However, Facebook called her post a violation of its "standards on misinformation that could cause physical harm." Why the New York Times story was not commensurately censored is unclear, unless the post was flagged because of the #WarpSpeed mention. As Lancaster said in her tweet about the incident: "I was suspended & placed in #FacebookJail @Facebook for 30 days in an attempt to silence my voice. My crime was quoting the @nytimes headline. #Fascism #Totalitarianism #1984 #Censorship #1AmendmentViolation"
