X (formerly Twitter) Community Notes continues to censor COVID-19 debate: Dr. Richard Urso quote tweeted an X post with a video clip and the title, “In a New Interview, Dr. Paul Offit Says Trump Was Almost Put on a Ventilator When He Had COVID in 2020.” Urso commented, “Offit is violating HIPPA and Our team communicated with Trumps team. He’s not being accurate. I will leave at that.” X Community Notes slapped a fact check on the note, asserting, “The information about Trump's treatment and near intubation is available publicly. Offit has not violated HIPAA in discussing publicly available information.” One of the links was from the New York Times, which merely claimed that Trump officials had feared Trump could be close to needing a ventilator. The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
