Wall Street Journal Op-Ed from Johns Hopkins professor of surgery that proposed herd immunity will be reached by April 2021 fact-checked and suppressed on Facebook: An Op-Ed  written by Dr. Marty Makary, a professor of surgery at Johns Hopkins University, titled "We’ll Have Herd Immunity by April” was fact-checked on Facebook. Makary was told it was "missing context" by Facebook fact-checker Health Feedback. "Three scientists analysed the article and estimate its overall scientific credibility to be very low,” said Health Feedback. The Journal called this response to Makary's article a "counter-opinion masquerading as fact checking." When something is fact checked Facebook's algorithm suppresses it so that it is exposed to fewer users. "Once we have a rating from a fact-checking partner, we take action by ensuring that fewer people see that misinformation,” Facebook said, according to the Journal.
