X community adds a context note to user's post: An X (formerly Twitter) user posted "Volunteer militias from at least 25 states have begun traveling to Texas in support of its National Guard. Do you stand with Texas? The mainstream media does not want you to SHARE this!" The post included a short video showing people marching across a bridge with a chyron that read "Heading to Texas to stop the Biden Border Invasion." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. This is misleading. It is not recent footage. This is from a 2019 protest in Portland. Confirmed by someone who was at the protest in 2019 and has seen themselves in the video above. twitter.com/FordFischer/st…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
