Twitter removed two tweets of a user who defended the actions of Kyle Rittenhouse and his violence of alleged self-defense: 18-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse was charged with first-degree murder after he killed two men and injured another purportedly in self-defense during one of the 2020 Antifa riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin. A user tweeted two different variations of a tweet claiming that "Kyle Rittenhouse did nothing wrong" and calling him a "hero," according to screenshots tweeted out by another user. The screenshots show that Twitter removed the tweets claiming that they violated its "rules against glorifying violence." The platform purportedly explained that it prohibits "content that condones or celebrates acts of violence that could promote imitation of the act," and "glorifying the perpetrators of such violence." The screenshot also shows that Twitter "temporarily limited some of [the user's] account features." It is unclear exactly which features were limited but similar restrictions usually result in an inability to tweet, retweet, follow other users, or like other users' posts for a definite period of time or until the user deletes the tweets in question.
