YouTube deletes Daily Signal video of Virginia mom speaking out against mask mandates: The Daily Signal made a video featuring Merianne Jensen, a Virginia mother who spoke out against masks at her local school board meeting. Jensen told The Daily Signal in the video that COVID-19 "is not being spread by children" and that her children had been harmed by the mask mandates. She said, "[m]y son came home from the first day of school with an extreme headache and went to bed with a stomachache because he was so anxious." She later added, "[f]or two weeks he came home with a headache. We took him to the doctor. It was all because of the mask." The video also showed Jensen's speech at the school board meeting where she asserted that "we play politics with kids faces by placing restrictive fabric over their nose and mouths that the CDC itself has said don't do anything." YouTube removed the video allegedly "for violating YouTube's Community Guidelines." Users who find the video link will find YouTube's generic removal notice, which does not specify how the video violated its rules. But the platform's COVID-19 Medical Misinformation Policy forbids users from posting "[c]laims that children cannot or do not contract COVID-19... [c]laims that masks do not play a role in preventing the contraction or transmission of COVID-19... [and] [c]laims that wearing a mask is dangerous or causes negative physical health effects."
