Facebook fact-checks popular gun meme: A post with over 118,000 shares was fact-checked by Facebook for "missing context." The post said, "The only time we hold a shooter responsible is when its [sic] a cop. Otherwise it's the gun, manufacturers, ammo companies and the NRA, not the criminals." The USA Today fact check claimed the post was missing context because police are "rarely prosecuted for on-duty shootings." Fact-checked posts lose exposure and are negatively affected by the platform's algorithm.
