American Lung Association

X Community Notes defends vaping in fact check label: The American Lung Association posted on X (formerly Twitter) May 11, “Ryan was in his mid-20s when his daily vaping landed him in the emergency room. Read his harrowing story: https://on.lung.org/3JZoDZW.” X Community Notes slapped a fact check on the post, “The cause of the poor lads [sic] condition was Staphylococcal Pneumonia. This an infection and is often blood born but can occur in the lungs alone. There is no evidence that Vaping CAUSES the problem, it is bacterial in nature. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK559152/ https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/medicine-and-dentistry/staphylococcal-pneumonia The onset is rapid 1-3 days and fits exactly https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/pubs/pinkbook/pneumo.html.”
