After Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg agreed to end fact-checking and turn back censorship on his platforms, MRC Founder and President Brent Bozell exposed how Zuckerberg’s announcement was a vindication of the serious grievances and hard work of free speech advocates.

Bozell made clear the significance of Zuckerberg’s promises and admissions during an interview on the Jan. 8 edition of Christian Broadcasting Network’s The 700 Club. Zuckerberg “was unequivocal in recognizing that they have been in the business of censorship as we’ve been saying for years, and they’ve been denying for years,” Bozell said. He went on to blast the fact checkers who have also fallen from grace.

Bozell exposed the lie that allowed fact checkers to wield so much power on Facebook, Instagram and Threads. “The supposition was that by third-party, you meant independent,” Brent said before shredding the obvious lie. “Well it wasn’t. It all came out of Silicon Valley. They were all left-wingers, and they were all devoted to shutting down conservatives.”

The 700 Club segment followed an incredible Jan. 7 announcement by Zuckerberg in which he promised sweeping changes on Meta’s platforms. He said the company would sever ties with anti-free speech fact checkers, and he called out pro-censorship foreign governments and acknowledged Meta’s failings. Zuckerberg even promised to lift restrictions on “topics like immigration and gender.” So far, Meta platforms are responsible for 1,725 cases of censorship documented in MRC Free Speech America’s exclusive CensorTrack database

This is a huge win that follows years of hard work from the Media Research Center and its allies in the Free Speech Alliance—a point Bozell made during The 700 Club segment. The MRC president noted that both President-elect Donald Trump and House Speaker House Mike Johnson (R-LA) were also unequivocally vocal against Big Tech censorship.

After saying that Trump had put Big Tech companies “on notice,” Bozell said, “There is a reason why they all have all been paying their respects at Mar-a-Lago. There is a reason why they are all going to Speaker Mike Johnson’s office, all pleading their cases about being impartial.”

Bozell followed that up by letting The 700 Club know who sounded the alarm here: “Frankly, we’ve been showing both the president-elect and the speaker that it simply wasn’t true.”
