Media Research Center President David Bozell joined Fox News Digital Tuesday afternoon to highlight the irony of the New York Times claiming threats to broadcast and news media while circulating a massive front-page critique of President Trump and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to millions of readers.
Bozell emphasized that FCC Chairman Brendan Carr has a clear congressional mandate to ensure broadcast networks like ABC, NBC and CBS operate within the Public Interest Standard. He criticized the Times for ignoring the FCC’s legal duties and framing Carr’s actions as political retaliation against ABC on Trump's behalf.

For example, the hosts of The View openly advocate for Democratic candidates almost exclusively, which clearly does not align with acting in the public interest. Bozell also highlighted Jimmy Kimmel Live!, noting thoughtless jokes made on the show, such as suggesting conservatives were responsible for Charlie Kirk’s assassination, or during the COVID-19 pandemic when Kimmel suggested hospitals should leave unvaccinated patients outside. These examples certainly do not reflect the Public Interest Standard.

While the Times frames these issues as targeted political retaliation, Bozell argued they are simply Carr fulfilling his statutory duties. He concluded by pointing out the publication's hypocrisy, noting that the Times showed no concern when the Biden administration pressured social media platforms like Facebook to censor content.
