Despite Amazon’s founder cozying up to the new pro-free speech administration, a book criticizing radical transgender ideology remains banned by the tech giant.

Amazon originally banned Ryan Anderson’s book When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment back in 2021, but the platform has yet to restore it to its online store. This is despite the fact that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos attended Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Bezos not only had a front row seat to Trump’s inauguration, but he (through Amazon) also donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund. Even before the 2024 election, Bezos shockingly prevented the leftist outlet he owns, The Washington Post, from endorsing either presidential candidate, much to the chagrin of Post employees.

Yet, even though Bezos is aligning himself with Trump, who has made protecting free speech a priority of his administration, Amazon continues to censor Anderson’s book. At the time that Amazon initially censored the book, the platform asserted that it couldn’t publish books that frame transgenderism as a mental illness, and still refuses to allow this dissenting opinion on its platform. This is particularly ironic since some anti-transgender books are available on Amazon, including Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters

Anderson’s book still is not listed on his author page on Amazon either, and apparently remains totally banned.

The Federalist’s Nathanael Blake, who is a fellow at Anderson’s Ethics and Public Policy Center, argued that the book needs to be restored as “the vibes have shifted and Trump returns to the Oval Office after campaigning against gender ideology.”

Amazon had not responded to a request from MRC for comment as of the publication of this blog.
