A government official who played up the alleged threat of online speech ahead of the 2024 election has now admitted that the election did not experience major attacks and disruptions.

Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Director Jen Easterly previously claimed that online speech could “undermine American trust in our democratic institutions and the election specifically.” Yet on Tuesday, she conceded to reporters that the election was actually remarkably secure from disruptions. Despite this, she is still pushing hysteria about “disinformation,” or speech with which leftists disagree. This is unsurprising given that the House Judiciary Committee has identified CISA as one of the federal agencies behind the Big Tech-government collusion to censor free speech.

Easterly reassured reporters about rumored bomb threats at polling places: “While disruptive, this was a threat that election officials prepared for and exercised for and effectively mitigated working closely with law enforcement partners,” Easterly told reporters late on Nov. 5, according to ABC News. Despite that admission, she asserted there were “continued attempts by our foreign adversaries to use false narratives and disinformation to undermine American confidence and the legitimacy of election.”

Yet in October, Easterly spoke to The New York Times to bolster their assertion that free speech could undermine elections. “[Foreign adversaries] do have different tactics and different approaches to influence operations, but their goals are the same,” Easterly said at the time. “Very simply, they’re looking to undermine American trust in our democratic institutions and the election specifically, and to sow partisan discord.” Easterly’s accusations of foreign interference can be weaponized against Americans, though. For instance, Americans have been censored online after being mistakenly accused of spreading Russian disinformation, in the witch hunt for “Russian bots” government officials urged on social media after the 2016 election.

CISA has long been involved in such anti-First Amendment activities as detailed in a damning Judiciary report titled, “THE WEAPONIZATION OF CISA.” Additionally,  The Twitter Files and the landmark Murthy v. Missouri lawsuit exposed CISA as pressuring social media to silence free speech. But not anymore, as CISA could change its collusion with Big Tech under a new Trump administration. While the Biden-Harris administration coordinated censorship with Big Tech, President-elect Donald Trump has emphasized the importance of free speech, including in a pre-election interview with podcast host Joe Rogan.

Conservatives are under attack. Contact your representatives and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on “hate speech” and equal footing for conservatives. If you have been censored, contact us using CensorTrack’s contact form, and help us hold Big Tech accountable.
