Big Tech purged conservative commentators’ posts after they began to discuss a scandalous New York Post report about Hunter Biden. This was the last straw for those skeptical about reining in Big Tech.

“Last night, my Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism invited both Jack Dorsey and Mark Zuckerberg to come and testify,” Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) declared with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) at his side. Hawley added that “a subpoena from the Judiciary Committee is absolutely appropriate and in order.” Hawley specified that this is a necessity in response to Big Tech’s crackdown on speech regarding an alleged Hunter Biden scandal: “We also believe in free elections. And the attempt to rig an election, which is what we’re seeing here by monopolies, is unprecedented in American history.”

Cruz explained to reporters that Dorsey needs to “come before this committee and the American people and explain why Twitter is abusing their corporate power to silence the press and the cover-up allegations of corruption,” according to The Hill.

Forbes recounted that “Both Cruz and Graham admitted they did not know if [t]he New York Post story is accurate, but painted it as a matter of principle,” noting specifically that Cruz called this incident “a remarkable development.”

Twitter’s and Facebook’s unprecedented crackdown on the New York Post (the Post) this week has changed the conversation on Big Tech censorship.

In a shocking revelation released by the Post on Oct. 14, emails from Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s son Hunter reportedly exposed the alleged scandalous dealings of both father and son in the Russia-bordering state of Ukraine. The story claimed emails were found from a Ukrainian executive Vadym Pozharskyi, an adviser to the board of Burisma, thanking Hunter Biden for the opportunity to meet his father, former Vice President Joe Biden in Washington D.C.

Facebook responded by reducing the story’s circulation on its platform, crippling its ability to spread. Twitter responded by disabling the link to the story, claiming: “Warning: this link may be unsafe.” Twitter then censored the Post, the White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, OANN’s Jack Posobiec, the Trump Campaign, James Woods, Dana Loesch and even the House Judiciary, a part of the government, for sharing this story.

The Federalist summarized that, “[a]ccording to Cruz, the Senate Judiciary Committee will be voting on the subpoena on Tuesday with the hopes that Dorsey will be able to testify about the censorship next Friday.”
