CNBC anchor Joe Kernen exposed radical leftist Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-MA) price-fixing proposal as a disaster and a distraction.

During the Aug. 23 edition of Squawk Box, Kernen interviewed Warren on her legislation purporting to fight “price gouging,” nine days after Vice President Kamala Harris tried to shift blame for high prices by embracing price controls. The 19-minute-long interview turned sour quickly.

Kernen wasn’t impressed with Warren’s talking points, contentiously referring to them as “fallacious,” “misleading,” and “sophistry.” Like Harris, Warren worked hard to deflect blame for rising prices and rampant inflation from the wild spending of the Biden administration by conveniently pointing the finger at corporate greed.

Kernen refused to be distracted, sarcastically asking Warren if her proposal was not about “diverting the attention away from the real issues that might actually help the middle class.”

After presiding over a 19.4% rise in prices, Harris tried to duck responsibility for high grocery costs by proposing price controls as a fix in an Aug. 14 news release. Notably, Harris would tout one of the most expensive and inflationary pieces of legislation produced by the Biden-Harris administration, the bafflingly named “Inflation Reduction Act” (IRA) only two days after trying to shift blame.

The Squawk Box co-host specifically mentioned the IRA as a cause of inflation ignored by Warren. After bashing price fixing as “not the government’s place” and a “fool’s errand,” Kernen accused Warren of deceiving the public:

“You’re using it to divert the real cause of inflation over the last four years which was because you had demand after the pandemic, which obviously, you know -- there was a lot, because we reopened, and all of a sudden there's supply chain issues, and the demand is juiced by all the stimulus from the IRA and all the other spending that we did.”

Kernen also repeatedly took Warren to task for the tyrannical and absurd nature of her proposal. For example, Kernen pointed out the ridiculousness of imposing restrictions on food prices while grocery store chains operate on 2% profit margins.
