Leftist billionaire George Soros just poured another $1 million into trying to make failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams the next governor of the state. But instead of reporting on the Soros-Abrams connection, the Big Three evening news networks completely ignored the story on their Wednesday and Thursday broadcasts.
It seems Soros is obsessed with trying to help election-denier Abrams take victory in the 2022 governor’s race in Georgia. But the Big Three evening news shows — ABC's World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News — couldn’t be bothered to cover either Soros or Abrams on Wednesday and Thursday, after Fox News broke the story.
Soros sent $1 million through his election influence machine, Democracy PAC II, to One Georgia Inc. on Sept. 30, according to recent Georgia state filings. One Georgia Inc. was started to help propel Abrams to victory in her second gubernatorial race in Georgia.
The Big Three instead covered the largest pumpkin ever grown in the U.S. and a green-friendly “bike bus” in Portland, among other human interest stories.
ABC’s World News Tonight led the way with a story about a massive 2,560 pound pumpkin grown in Minnesota. “Driving more than 2,000 miles, growing [the pumpkin] in his own backyard, and appropriately enough, he’s a horticulture teacher,” ABC anchor David Muir said. NBC Nightly News described a “bike bus” in Portland, which takes “hundreds of cars off the road,” stops car emissions and is “very Portland.”
On top of the Big Three’s lack of coverage, Abrams has benefited from adoring coverage from the other legacy press outlets. In particular, The Washington Post depicted her as receiving “loud cheers and applause” from fans and crediting her for “working to build the base of voters who helped deliver the White House and Senate majority for Democrats.”
Soros’s most recent donation to the Abrams campaign “follows the $2.5 million he pushed into [One Georgia] between March and June, bringing his support for the group to $3.5 million and putting him among its largest donors,” according to Fox News.
But there’s a catch: Abrams can only access Soros’s bankroll if she wins the Democratic primary. Georgia state law requires candidates to be their party’s official nominee before using funds donated to them, as The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported in April.
Abrams would be a political pea in the proverbial Soros pod if she wins. She has emerged as a pro-abortion warrior, even going so far as to tweet, “As the next Governor of Georgia, I will defend the right to an abortion and fight for reproductive justice.”
All in all, Soros is betting big on one of the highest-profile campaigns in the country. As Abrams herself tweeted to her almost 3 million followers: “The governor's office is the most powerful position in our state. We must have a leader who sees all of Georgia, not just the people and places they like.”

Soros’s Democracy PAC II received a staggering $126 million from July 29, 2021 to June 30, 2022, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) records. FEC records also indicate that Soros Fund Management LLC provided $125 million of the total $126 million in 2021.
The Abrams campaign did not respond to a request for comment from MRC Business by publication time.
