Twitter community adds a context note to White House tweet:  The official Twitter account for the White House tweeted, “Defaulting on America’s debt. Making you pay the price. That’s the only House Republican plan on the table." A video was included with clips from former president Donald Trump and House Speaker Rep. Kevin McCarthy. Twitter added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read "Speaker McCarthy has announced a plan to 'lift the debt ceiling into next year, limit federal spending and return discretionary funding levels to those from 2022.'" The context note also included a link to an article from The Hill to support the note. The label is part of Twitter’s Community Notes system. Twitter users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to tweets.
