X temporarily locks account for referring to the Founders’ historical actions: X user W3ND1G0 posted on June 11 that he had been put in “twitter jail for 7 days,” although it is unclear exactly when that occurred, since he had been responding apparently to a post from only the day before. CA Gov. Gavin Newsom had posted June 10, “The founding fathers did not live and die to see this moment. It’s time for all of us to stand up peacefully.” The user included a screenshot showing X “automatically locked” his account for the comment, “The founding fathers would have dumped tar and feathers on you.” X said the censorship occurred for “Violating our rules against violent speech.”
