Mailchimp bans Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL): Mailchimp, a popular email marketing service, reported to VCDL that it had found "serious risks associated with the account." The email that Mailchimp sent to VCDL about the deplatforming explained that it was the companies "automated abuse-prevention system" that identified the problem, and that "the risk is too great for us to continue to support the account." While no further explanation was provided as to what the risks might entail, it is most likely due to the fact that VCDL is an organization dedicated to pro-gun organizing and lobbying. The ban came a week after the Capitol riot, and could be an overreaction to that event, though VCDL had not used its newsletter to question the outcome of the 2020 election or encourage any protests outside of its yearly Lobby Day rally, which is peaceful but does typically include open-carry, being legal in the state of Virginia.
